2 Classes

So congratulations to me! I got to add both of the classes that I wanted. I am now taking both Intro to Digital Imaging (photoshop) and Intermediate Photography and my classes are each 1 night per week and they are both 4 hrs long! I really like them both and I am excited about the projects and the things I will learn taking these classes.
We are using this super expensive program Adobe Photoshop CS4 and I have CS3 at home but CS4 is the newest and best version as of now.. until they come out with another new one that will probably cost even more! We did our first assignment the other day and I totally got it and It made me feel really good that I could figure it out without having to ask too many questions and I enjoyed playing with the program and using the different effects. I was able to turn in the assignment early as well. So that class is going pretty well I think I have a feeling that by the end of the class I may end up wanting to get a mac and adobe photoshop cs4 very badly

In my other class we also have been told what our assignments are and I started working on it. It is to make one photo with 25 separate film frames without splicing only cutting it so it will lay as 5x5 film frames and make a photo. So earlier this week I went out with my camera and film to take some photos for this assignment and found a decent scene near my work and went out and shot a roll of film on my lunch break. I wanted to have something to work on in the lab for class this week. So I brought the film to class and went into the lab an it was set up very differently than the lab I had used before. I saw a few things that were similar to what I had used and it had been over 2 years since I have developed film so I probably should have asked more questions before just starting to develop(or attempting to anyways). So I was using a completely different film reel and the developing jug and everything than everyone else there so when I was asking for help people were giving me the wrong measurements etc. and I ended up pulling the whole lid off the thing because the ones they use are different and don't expose the film when the lid comes off... so my film got completely ruined and I got really frustrated and discouraged. For a while there I was so discouraged that I considered just leaving and dropping the class. I read through all of the instructions a ton of times and I probably looked like an idiot cause I had to practice rolling the film onto the plastic reels and went through all the steps to practice so that I wouldn't mess up next time. So now I have to go out again and re-shoot that whole assignment and then go back to the lab and develop my film and hope that I don't screw it up again. I feel pretty confident about it now though.
It had been more than 2 years since my intro to photography class and a little trial and error never hurt anyone. My teacher actually told the class a funny story about how he went out to do a shoot of some stairs that were in a museum or something and he went out and did the whole shoot and then got back to the lab and discovered that he hadn't put any film in the camera, so he had to call the place and tell them that he needed to come back to re-do the shoot. After doing the second shoot he went back to the lab to develop and again found that he had forgotten to put film in the camera, the third time he remembered to put film in and each time he did the shoot took different photos than the one before and some the same as before. Hopefully I won't mess up my developing a second time. I just need to make sure I have all the steps down and everything ready and practiced before I start. After class I was feeling a bit better because my teacher helped me and another girl out by showing us the steps. I was still flustered and upset and Alex was very sweet and took me out to ice cream so I could calm down and feel better after my class. He even got me cracking up laughing.
I wrote down and went over all of the steps this morning so that when I go back to that lab I will show it who is boss!!

New desk and Haircut- Rainy weekend

So last week and this weekend it has been rainy pretty much the whole time. So we haven't been outside a lot. Andrea came to visit and It was a lot of fun seeing her. She even got to go to the basketball game with the fam while I had to go to class that night. Alex got me a nice new computer desk from staples and he set it up for me over the weekend.

It is all set up now it just needs to get organized the way we want everything to be.

Alex was letting his facial hair get out of control because I didn't want to cut his hair. He said that when I cut his hair he will shave his face and that went on for nearly 3 weeks I think. So yesterday we finally met a compromise on the shave/haircut deal and I cut his hair and then he shaved his face. To be honest I didn't mind it before, I like his hair when it is scruffy, long and curly except for the sideburns those needed some help. Alex apparently likes his hair to be short though so I had to cut it.

I told Alex that the people at work won't recognise him because he looks so much younger all trimmed and clean shaven.

It's cool to be in school!!

I am very excited about this semester that began this week. I missed being in school so much. I am taking intermediate photography and hopefully will be able to add electronic imaging. I am so excited to start using my film camera again and especially the part about using the dark room. It has been too long (2 years) since I have been in one.
Last night's class totally refreshed my memory of the whole film photography experience and got me even more excited than I already was! so I am pretty ecstatic at this point. I am heading to the store to get supplies and I will start shooting and shooting tomorrow morning! It is going to be bliss! hopefully I will get into the digital imaging class so I can display a lot of the photos from my other class online. I basically decided last minute to sign up for classes so I have to attempt to add everything I want to take.
last night I got added and the night before the teacher decided to wait one more week to see if those who didn't show up were going to drop, were legitimately sick or other and will then decide how many he can have add the class. I think there were somewhere around 5 people who wanted to add and he only has a certain number of computers so that limits the number he can add. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I was the third add person to "get in line" like 20 mins before the class even started but he may just pull names out of a hat. Either way I got a class. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to add any and I got at least one and the other could go either way. I consider myself pretty lucky that I got to add a class at all because everything I did was so last minute. I am so excited about this and I am sure that I will talk about it more and more as the semester goes on.

Great story:

This video has a great message and gives me a great feeling of the spirit. I love the Mormon Messages channel on youtube and the short videos they have available for me to watch anytime even if I only have a few minutes to spare. I love President Gordon B. Hinkley's and President Monson's messages, just hearing their voices makes my day better. There are so many ways we can make sure we are keeping the spirit in our every day lives.

Date Night-- Saturday Night

Alex and I went out to eat at the Cheesecake factory Saturday night and It was sooo good. Not only was the cheesecake delicious, but so was the food. We got the pasta Da Vinci- "Sautéed Chicken, Mushrooms and Onions in a Delicious Madeira Wine Sauce Tossed with Penne Pasta and Parmesan". I was skeptical but it was darn good! and for desert we had the White Chocolate Caramel Macadamia Nut Cheesecake-- "White Chocolate Chunk Cheesecake Swirled with Macadamia Nuts and Caramel on a Blond Brownie Crust". It was insanely good! I don't want to even know about the calories okay. I will go running this week so no worries.

Poor sissy : (

My poor poor little sis. She was sooo excited about her snowboarding class and the first day up to Targhee yesterday to go snowboarding. I didn't find out what happened until late last night. This was her very first day of snowboarding/skiing class and she was really looking forward to taking the class and going snowboarding every week for the whole semester she even got those days off of work for the class and everything. So apparently what happened was that she went to class with the snowboarding instructor and everything went fine I guess they took them to the bunny hill for the first class which is fine but she has been snowboarding with me there before and I took her all over that mountain 2 years ago when I was taking that class. So after her class was over she had time to go on a few runs and I guess she was practicing her carving and caught a hard edge from her toe side and fell hard on her back on icy snow downhill and fractured her vertebrae in her back. So that effectively put an end to her snowboarding class for the semester because apparently it will take about 6 weeks to heal. I am glad she is okay and sad that she won't get to go snowboarding for a while though. And when she does go she will have to take it easy so she doesn't fall on her back. Love you sis xoxo

Boreal- Night Skiing

This weekend on Saturday we went snowboarding at Boreal. We went night skiing because it costs less. The night skiing starts at 3:30 so we got there around 4pm and left at about 8pm. It has been 2 years since I last went snowboarding, but I did fine I even went on the most difficult run and just avoided the monster size jumps and those kind of things. This was Alex's second time snowboarding and he did pretty well He was trying to carve and falling a lot, but he had fun. We found out last night that Alex may actually be "goofy footed" so he probably had the wrong foot forward on Saturday
I was ran into twice by snowboarders who apparently were not watching where they were going or they just didn't care. I saw some of the worst snowboarding I think I have ever seen at this place it was funny, they were not in control of their skis/snowboards and were getting way too close to other people while going down the slope so that was kind of weird and is probably why I got ran into and there were several close calls where people were kind of scary to be next to. When Alex and I had finished about our 4th run down the "medium level" lift we were heading back to get in line to go up again and Alex was about to run into my board with his so I "gently" pushed him away a bit and he fell backwards into the snow and said "come on!" sarcastically I didn't actually mean to push him over but it must have looked like it to Alex and the people who were now laughing at us. Alex did really well, but by about 7pm he was ready to go home and didn't want to go on any more runs. I did three more and then we went home. Alex was very sore the next day. We had a good time and I am excited to go again.

Starting my own blog

Ok so this is the first of hopefully many postings to my blog. I thought I would try this out because it is a really good idea and I can't find my journal anyways.. I have a pretty good amount of spare time during the day to work on it and it would be much more worthwhile than playing time-wasting games all day on Facebook. I haven't yet figured out how to add photos and things like that so if anyone has some suggestions that would be greatly appreciated by me :)
